Ordering a Mediterranean meal to share

Balance plates, accompaniments and individual needs.

Confirm the sharing format

Ask whether the restaurant serves shared plates, individual meals or a mixture. Tell staff the group size and ask how its portions are intended to work. A platter photograph does not establish how many people it will suit.

Build the order together

Collect the preferences of everyone, then choose a range of dishes from the current menu. Check which accompaniments are included with each order. If bread, rice, dips or sauces matter to the meal, confirm them explicitly rather than treating them as automatic extras.

Keep separate needs clear

Discuss ingredient restrictions before choosing shared dishes. Ask whether a separate plate or preparation is possible where needed. Let the affected guest assess the restaurant answer instead of deciding for them from a menu symbol.

Agree on the next round

Start with the selection the group can comfortably manage and ask whether adding dishes later is convenient. Keep track of changes and extras. For a booked gathering, confirm service, payment and cancellation terms before sending invitations.
